This item is price on application due to its rarity and importance.

Attributed to E. W. Godwin, this circular wine or side table aligned to the Aesthetic Movement (circa 1860 to circa 1890), c.1880. The circular top has a deep moulded edge and unites directly to five ring turned legs.

The legs, with spaced ring turned decoration, are united by a circular undertier with small horizontal turned supports joining into the leg structure. The combination of the compact circular form, repeated ring turning and lower circular shelf gives the table a restrained but distinctly architectural character.

The leg treatment and circular shelf follow the design of a mahogany side table made by Collinson and Lock and illustrated by Susan Weber Soros.*
