An Arts & Crafts oak three piece bedroom suite by Wylie & Lochead of Glasgow, with stylised floral inlays of Pewter & Mother Of Pearl consisting of a double wardrobe with lower drawer, a matching dressing table & a washstand all with conforming inlays. .
Wardrobe Height 82 1/4", Width of cornice 55", Depth of cornice 21 1/4".
Washstand Height 45 3/4", Width to the ends of the towel rails 50 1/2" , Depth 20". Dressing Table (with mirror) Height 67" with the mirror, Width 42" , Depth 20 1/2".

WL 7
A stunning Arts & Crafts matching oak wardrobe & dressing table designed by E Punnett & made by William Birch in 1901 (see British Furniture by Pauline Agius page 120 plate 163). The pair with sensational ebony & pewter stylised inlaid details & chevron inlaid details throughout to the dressing table & wardrobe. The dressing table is one you can sit at & they are becoming harder & harder to find, the wardrobe has good hanging space & two large drawers to the base.
Dressing table Height 56", Width 41 1/2", Depth 21 1/2". Circa 1901.

It notes in British Furniture that the dressing table on it's own was estimated to cost to make £6 8s. 6d. & would have sold for at least double if not treble to the retailers & then they would have doubled up so each piece would have been very expensive at the time.

Stunning Arts & Crafts bedroom suite consisting of treble wardrobe, dressing table, washstand & a pair of bedside cabinets by Harris Lebus in the Glasgow Style. The wardrobe with flaring cornice full length central mirror flanked by 2 further doors with wonderful stylised floral copper panels & stylised copper strap hinges & handles opening to reveal plenty of drawer space to the right & double hanging space to the left. The dressing table with conforming metal work 2 upper shelves with 2 jewellery drawers below & 3 large drawers below on ring turned legs. The washstand with fantastic tiles, marble top with a pair of cupboards below & on ring turned legs. The pair of matching bedside cupboards again with conforming metalwork also on ring turned legs. (It's almost impossible to find matching bedside cupboards let alone still with their original suite).

WL 9
A stunning Shapland & Petter Oak bedroom pair NOW with matching double bed.
Although the bed is made from Mahogany it can be stripped & refinished to almost the same colour as the wardrobe & dressing table. (I will sell separately)
The treble wardrobe with flaring cornice & central bevelled mirror door surmounted by three copper hearts flanked by two further doors with sensational stylised Glasgow Rose copper panels & three section panels below with stylised copper hinges & twin drawers below on plinth base.
The dressing table with central bevelled mirror flanked by elongated uprights with capped tops & stylised Glasgow Rose copper panels below & bow fronted drawers below those with open area & stylised ying yang cut outs to the back with open areas & a large open area below the mirror with a full length drawer to the base all stood on oblong feet. All with angular copper handles surmounted by hearts.

WL 10
A fantastic Arts & Crafts Oak treble wardrobe by Shapland & Petter in the Glasgow Style, flaring cornice with tremendous stylised floral copper panel just below the cornice that has a subtle shaped bracket just above which actually just slides down into place before one puts the cornice on, conforming stylised floral copper panel's to each side door which both break forward from the central door giving the piece its truly amazing form with bevelled mirror opening to reveal upper cubby hole with drawers below with superb hand formed copper handles & hinges. Another example typical of S&P superior design & quality.

Wonderful Oak Arts and Crafts treble wardrobe & Dressing table by Shapland & Petter, with superb Enamel Hearts to doors & dressing table & quality stylised brass handles.

Shapland & Petter were one of the top commercial manufacturers of the period supplying many pieces to Liberty & Co, & hundreds of other retailers exporting all over the world to as far as Argentina & they were without a doubt one of the top commercial producers of superior quality Arts & Crafts furniture.

WL 15
A Mahogany & Rosewood Arts & crafts bedroom trio designed by EA TAYLOR yet made by SHAPLAND & PETTER. This set proves that S&P made furniture under licence to Wylie & Lochhead. The drawer from the dressing table & the large bottom drawer from the wardrobe are both stamped EA Taylor & the drawers have the tiny machine made dovetails unique to S&P, & the locks are stamped S&P.B. It also has a Wylie & Lochhead ivorene label to the inside of the door. The trio is in his style, the swooping Swallow & the 'V' at the center of the base & a little V below the dressing table drawer & the heart to the back all point toward Taylors more commercial design.

WL 16
A good four piece bedroom suite of superior quality by Wylie & Lochhead the design attributed to E A Taylor consisting of double wardrobe, Dressing table, Wash stand & 4' 6" double bed. Fantastic metal work thoughout, original brass candle caps to the dressing table with Celtic cutouts also to the to the washstand, elongated hearts to the bed, wonderful conforming cornices all with dental detailing.
It is very difficult to find bedroom suites which still have their beds.

WL 17
A top quality Glasgow School Arts & Crafts oak treble wardrobe in the manner of M.H.Ballie Scott possibly by Goodhall, Lambs & Heighway with Ebony & Walnut stylised floral inlays very much in his style to the cornice & further leaf style inlays to the door tops & bottoms & to the tops of the lower drawers. It has a central bevelled mirror door flanked by 2 further doors which angle back towards the centre & glazed upper sections with Moorish details behind copper lattice work panels & quality copper handles pierced with inverted hearts. These handles were used on some Morris & Co furniture & I have had a variation of the Norman Shaw chair similar to the ones designed by him for the Tabard Inn that were retailed by Morris & Co images 8,9,10,11 & 12.

A rare & early Arts & Crafts oak tallboy/sideboard by Shapland & Petter with dentil mouldings to the cornice above a central upper cupboard with bevelled mirror flanked by a further pair of cupboards with turned finials & display area's above & 3 central small drawers flanked by 2 further cupboards, the open work area with 3 large graduating drawers below on turned feet with shaped apron. A very useful piece with lots of storage space.

A Heals & Co Arts & Crafts oak bedroom suite of superior quality designed by Ambrose Heals consisting of a treble wardrobe, dressing table, a matching bedroom chair, & a pair of 3' wide beds which can easily be made into a 6' wide king size bed just by butting the two singles together.
The treble wardrobe with flaring cornice inlaid with Ebony & Pewter with a central cupboard each door with circular Ebony & Pewter inlays,
4 drawers below with brass swan neck handles flanked by 2 further cupboards with flowing Ebony & Pewter inlays surrounded by chequered with double line Ebony & Pewter inlays & brass drop handles each with full length hanging space with retracting & extending hanging rails, the whole on subtle arching feet.
See Hoffmann, Julius, jnr. ‘Der Moderne Stil’ Stuttgart 2006, p. 103, fig. 5 for an illustration of the dressing table & side chair.

The dressing table with arched top mirror supported on unusual oval shaped uprights of sculptural form, the arched top with Ebony & Pewter chequered inlays & the swivel mirror with Ebony & Pewter diamond & feather inlays with a row of 3 jewellrey drawers & 2 larger drawers below the whole on 4 conforming subtly tapering oval shaped sculptured legs united by a classic H stretcher with a wonderful mitred joint.
The pair of 3' beds with flowing Ebony & Pewter inlays to the tops of the head & footboards matching the wardrobe outer door inlays, both beds with their original Heals labels.
A matching bedroom chair with Ebony & Pewter chequered inlays with cane seats & subtley square tapering to oval shaped sculptured legs matching the dressing table legs & mirror supports.
