A PERGOLA/DECORATIVE GARDEN STRUCTURE
PERGOLA 1 - A monumental mid Victorian hand formed wrought & cast iron Pergola/Decorative Garden Structure, a real triumph a true masterpiece of High Victorian design & build. This Pergola was built in the same Era as Paxton's Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition of 1851, Kew Gardens by Decimus Burton from the mid to later part of the 19th Century & Barnard, Bishop & Barnards Japanese Pavilion designed by Thomas Jeckyll for the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876 albeit much simpler & of course on a much smaller scale.
This is a unique & incrediable garden structure, a breath taking beautiful "Work of Art" so much so that it would stand harmoniously at Kew Gardens or in any garden large enough to show it off to it's true full potential. I'm sure there are a million gardens out there in the world where this would look sensational yet certainly only one of these remarkably Pergola's. I was very fortunate to purchase this in Argentina & Argentina was probably the richest country in the world at the turn of the century with the Silver mines & the beef exports. The extremely wealthy Argentineans came to Europe & purchased the very best of what was on offer in those times because there was not an industrial revolution happening over there at the rate of knots things were moving in Great Britain, France & Germany at that time which is why some of the most amazing & most valuable Works of Art from Europe have turned up in Argentina. We think it is probably French or possibly British & because there are no markings on it at all it is very difficult to decipher which of the two countries it is from so we are still researching it's origin but the date Circa 1850 we are quite certain of because of the way it is made give or take ten or so years. Research in Argentina has only emphasised that there was no-one in Argentina who could have made this in the Mid Victorian period. It was removed from a house near to the bottom of Argentina which was built in the early 1800's, it was pulled down in the 1970's & purchased by an old Rancher whom had stored it in his barns since that date & then it was purchased from his widow by the gentleman who we purchased it from whom had stored it for many years himself.
We can happily ship it anywhere in the world. 14 metres long (approx 46') x 6 metres 30cms high (approx 20'). Circa 1850. £50K.

One can see in the 3rd row of images above we have had it finely bead blasted & it has had 2 coats of red oxide rust proof paint ready for the final colour of the new owners choice.
In the 2 rows of images below it's shown in it's original some what rusty condition when we purchased it.
An amazing structure that would add beauty, style, class & exquisite taste to any beautiful garden, a conversation piece which would be the centre of attraction for entertaining, party's or family gatherings or just for your personal pleasure as you arrive home each day 'a true stunner' restored to all it's former glory to love & cherish & enjoy for one's entire life, standing proud in one's garden there would be no real need for too much more except some seating, what a good gardener with a good eye for design could grow around & within it would be all one needs to compliment & enrich it's simplicity yet stunning presence.
A Pergola is a garden resting place entwined with flowers....
