LT 73 - A Birmingham Guild of Handicraft silver plated table lamp by A.S.Dixon. Height 13" 34cm to where the lamp holder pivots with the scrolled wing nut, Width 10 1/2" 26.5cm across the flats at the feet & one foot has an original piercing wall hung. Circa 1895. £POA.
This table lamp has all the traits of Dixon, his domed shaped foot as shown in the last but two images identical to the brass foot of a Dixon 3 leg bowl which was exhibited at Blackwell, his famous rat tail (twinned as in tension screw for the swivel adjustment just below the socket end). See Arts & Crafts Metalwork, Blackwell, the Arts & Crafts House 2003, page 27 & 39. To find a superior set of four Arts & Crafts wall lights is almost unheard of in this day & age, a tremendous design of superior quality with conical shaped tops pierced with stylised spades & the rim with circular impressions, wall brackets with twin integrated scroll arms that unite the back plate which tapers down finishing in heart shaped riveted details to the base & wonderful heavy gage hand blown shades & there is also a spare shade. Height 17", Width at centre 4", Arm protrudes 8 1/2", Width of conical hat 8 3/4", Height of Conical hat inc shade 12 1/2".Circa 1895. £SOLD.
