GODWIN EX - 35
An extremely rare Anglo Japanese Walnut sideboard of a very pure Japanese design with a small bevelled mirror to the top flanked by beautiful inset Lacquered panels with scenes of Storks or Cranes in flight & further lacquered panels to the drawer & door fronts the doors also with embossed leather work & wonderful engraved handles & hinges with open area & shelves below on splayed legs. A superb quality piece.
In the style of E.W.Godwin.

GODWIN EX - 36
A stunning Aesthetic Movement Ebonised & Gilded bookcase cabinet with shaped cornice & 4 open shelves below flanked by separate display areas for objects of virtue & turned uprights to each side with gilt detailing, the central drawer with Amboyna inset panels & ring drop brass handles, a 2 door cupboard below with sensational oil paintings depicting Greek Maidens on leatherette in wonderful condition with central ring pull brass handle flanked by decorative brass hinges the whole with brass ball beading, on shape & turned legs. This cabinet was made for a specific room interior as it has a 90 degree recess to the left hand side to the back but doesn't become apparent from the front view.

Probably made by Collinson & Lock or Armitages own furniture making Co.

GODWIN EX - 39
A very good quality extremely rare Anglo-Japanese ebonised Wellington chest of drawers with a black marble top & hand painted Japanese decoration with stylised floral details & a stylised Swallow/Swift. The lower drawer is a deep double drawer all with wonderful quality brass drop handles, this is ebonised on a good quality pine/deal.

GODWIN EX - 40
An Aesthetic Movement Music/filing cabinet with a gallery top & stylised hand painted panels depicting Japanese flowers & 2 musicians one playing a violin & one playing a Lyre with fabulous quality brass handle with Dressers typical style zig-zag detailing & 10 drawers behind the doors all with quality brass handles & a segregated lower section.
Attributed to the studio of Dr Christopher Dresser.
Painted panels attributed to Moyar Smith.
Possibly made by Chubb.

GODWIN EX - 41
An Anglo-Japanese sideboard in the manner of Thomas Jeckyll with stylised fret work almost identical to his designs for Barnard Bishop & Barnard with Amboyna serving area possibly designed by W J Estall. Lambs were one of the very best cabinet makers of the period a pure Art Furniture company who's furniture designs were at the forefront in England in the late 1800's. Alfred Waterhouse is also believed to have designed for them too. £POA. A set of 4 matching dining chairs below.

GODWIN EX - 41a
Lambs of Manchester. A rare set of 4 Walnut Aesthetic Movement dining chairs with circular carved details & ebonised turned & incised details, a cup handle to the back of the head rest on turned front legs with brass & ceramic castors & a wonderful kick out back leg united by a H stretcher.
Made by Lambs of Manchester, stamped on the top of the door.

GODWIN EX - 42
An ebonised Anglo-Japanese cabinet of supreme quality with Amboyna serving area possibly designed by W J Estall but very much in the style Of T E Colcutt like E W Godwin Colcutt also designed for Collinson & Lock & his ebonised furniture shown in Philadelphia & exhibited at the Paris Exhibition in 1878 contributed to the fashion & style in the United States at that time. Ebonised & Gilded Aesthetic Movement desk
Design firmly attributed to Bruce Talbert
Made by Gillows of Lancaster
The upper shelf surmounted by a brass gallery, black leather writing area with Gilt tooling to edge. 2 drawers with stylised brass handles, on turned & Gilt legs with 'D' end stretcher & leather foot rest to centre, shaped side supports with carved rosettes & small turned gallery on bun feet with inset brass castors.
Stamped Gillows inside the drawer & Numbered 806.

GODWIN EX - 44
Ebonised & Gilded Aesthetic Movement sideboard with carved putti panels.
Attributed to Bruce Talbert 1838 to 1881.
Talbert originally trained as a wood carver & later trained as an architect but his main activity was in domestic furniture design. He also designed metalwork, cast ironwork, wallpapers, carpets & textiles for many important & prestigious companies of his time. The side cabinet is very probably made by Gillows of Lancaster, they were in buisness from C1729 to C1900 One of the most important furniture making company of the time.

GODWIN EX - 45
A Walnut Aesthetic Movement sideboard in the manner of E W Godwin. Many of the features of this sideboard relate to Godwin's famous fireplace/Butterfly cabinet which was painted by J McNeil Whistler & exhibited at Paris Exhibition in 1878.

GODWIN EX - 51
A superb Ebonised Aesthetic corner cabinet with wonderful carved floral detail to the top & to the doors flanked by superb quality stylised hinges & handle, kick out front legs, the influence of Godwin is seen a number of times on this piece, the curly tops & kick out front legs the carved florets, incised detail & even the metalwork all have the essence of his work. The colour looks more like Walnut in these pictures for some bazaar reason but it is actually very black (ebonised).

An exceptional Oak wall shelf with open shelves placed around a central door that has an etching of Adam & Eve in the garden with a Parrot & an inscription, a snake biting the apple, a Sheep, a Bull, a Cockerel, a Cat, a Mouse a Dove & a Billy Goat precariously perched on a rock.
Attributed to E.W.Godwin.

A superior quality Gothic Revival Walnut Dresser with turned gallery to the top & outstanding stylised floral & leaf carving the flowers highlighted in Gilt, with 4 turned supports below with ebonised high lights & open display area, a bank of crisply carved alternating florets beneath, the sides & doors with ebonised & Gilt highlighted tramline details & quality handles, the doors opening to reveal shelved area for storage.
